Kid Travel Essentials

My all-time Favorite kid travel products

We have traveled all over the world with our kids. From California to Rome, from Madrid to Jamaica. We’ve done multi-week road trips and multi-country European jaunts. We’ve flown, cruised, trained, and droved (yes, I know that’s not a real word, but I was on a roll there) all over the world, and we’ve narrowed down some of our favorite kid travel products here.

Here you’ll find products for babies, toddlers, and children all the way up to around age 8.

Kid’s Electronics

Kid’s Digital Camera

One of my all-time favorite reasons to travel is that I get to see the world through my kid’s eyes. We bought my daughter her first camera a few years ago, and it was so entertaining seeing what she thought was worth taking pictures of. Now, I need you to hear me on this - the pictures and video that come out of this camera are not good. It says that you get 48MP photos and 4k video. I don’t know how they get away with it, but those are most definitely lies. If I were to guess, we’re closer to the range of 4MP and 720P, and even that may be a little generous. But it doesn’t really matter. The quality of the photos and videos aren’t really important. It’s more fun watching her walk around and take pictures and film what we’re doing, and then I back everything up on my computer just for fun. As she gets older and I’m less concerned about her breaking or losing the camera, I will buy her a nicer one, but for now, it’s fun watching her “film” our travels from her perspective.

GooPow Kid’s Camera

If you have an even younger child, this camera is an even better option. This was my older daughter’s first camera, and it’s the one my younger daughter (age 3 now), currently has. Again, it doesn’t take very good pictures or videos, but they both love playing with it. It also has a few built in games and fun filters that they’ve loved playing with over the years. It comes in quite a few colors and patterns, great for kids ages 3-7.

Yoto Mini Screen Free Audio Player

Both of my daughters absolutely love this thing. It’s a small, screen free audio player, and you purchase little cards that go with it. You pop the card in to the top and it reads your child stories or plays them songs depending on the card. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of options for cards for all different ages, including Disney, Sesame Street, classic books, bedtime stories, Daniel Tiger, Cocomelon, Harry Potter - you name it, they probably have it. They can listen to them quietly on their headphones or they can listen to the stories out loud on the speaker. Our girls also each have iPads, but we hold out on those until we have no other choice. These usually buy us hours of peace & quiet before we have to bust out the big guns.

Yoto Mini Case

Since we travel with the Yoto, it’s nice to have it in a little case. This way it’s protected and contained along with all the cards.

LISEN Airplane Phone Holder (For Phones with MagSafe)

If you have a phone with MagSafe, I need you to trust me when I say, this is the best one. I’ve tried a hundred of these things. It is incredibly stable even in the worst of airplane turbulence, and it folds down super small. Buy it, bring it with you, and thank me later.

Piggy Cell Phone Stand

I feel like I don’t really need to explain this one, right? It’s a little suction cup in the shape of a pig that you stick to your forehead to see how long it will stick there before it falls off. The trick is to make sure you get a nice round hickie right in the middle of your forehead that lasts for a few days. I suppose you could also stick it to the back of your phone to hold it upright, but that’s totally up to you.

Gorsun Kids Bluetooth Headphones

We like these headphones. Are they the best kid headphones out there? I don’t know. But they work pretty well, and they have for the last several years. They work via bluetooth or hardwired, and we use these with their Yotos or with their iPads.

Klearlook Phone Clamp (For Phones without MagSafe)

Let’s be honest, there are times when nothing else will work, and we must succumb to the fact that it’s time to watch Cocomelon on our phones. This is not an admission of defeat. Oh no. This is a grasping on to the strands of remaining sanity. And no one will judge you for doing so. Or, if they do, then they have either A) never had kids or B) nope, it’s just option A. If your phone has MagSafe capabilities, then I have another phone clamp I like even better (see the Lisen phone holder), but I still own this one and use is often as well. This phone clamp is great for all sorts of situations, not only when we travel. I’ve used it on airplanes both for my kids and for myself, and on stroller to help pacify kids at the end of a long day, but I’ve also put it on the handle of a shopping cart at a grocery store. And you know what? Inevitably, every time I use it , 3-4 parents (usually dads, often with screaming toddlers dry mopping the floor holding on to their ankles) come up to me and say, “whoa! Where did you get that?”

Toys & Time Wasters

So much of traveling involves waiting. Waiting in airports. Waiting on planes. Waiting on trains. Waiting in queues. Waiting in restaurants. It can be hard enough on grown ups, but it can be especially hard for kiddos. Of course, we have the aforementioned Yotos and other screen based entertainment, but obviously we don’t want to use that all the time. So we always have a plethora of toys and time wasters to help fill the gaps of time.

LCD Writing Tablets

These things are so fun even I love playing with them. You can draw on them, play games like tic tac toe, practice writing - the possibilities are endless. Once you’re done, you simply hit the button at the bottom and it wipes the screen blank. This comes in a pack of 2 and they’re very thin and easy to throw in a carry on bag.

Wikki Stix

If your kids don’t enjoy playing with these, then you probably will. I know I do. These are waxy little sticks that you can be twisted and shaped into any design your kids can think up. They make no mess (always a plus), and they provide something tactile for your kids to do with their hands. They can be laid out on a table in order to make a piece of art, or sculpted into 3d pieces, or even turned into jewelry. Then, they can be put away and used again and again. They take up almost no room in your bag, especially if you take them out of the plastic container they come in and transfer them to a Ziplock bag. My suggestion would be to buy at least two packs. I’ve found that when I’m creating my own masterpieces, I always run out of Stix and have to start stealing my kids’ in order to finish.

Melissa & Doug Water Wow Reusable Water Coloring

I’m always amazed at how much my girls love these things, both my younger daughter and my older daughter. You simply fill up the little pen with water and they color the white pages to reveal the colors underneath. Then, once the pages dry, they can be used again. Melissa & Doug sells a hundred variations of these - from simple scenes like jungle & safari, to educational versions, to branded versions like Paw Patrol.

Qrytoi Erasable Doodle Book

This erasable drawing book is on of my older daughter’s favorites to bring on road trips. The markers that come with it are super vivid and really stand out against the background. Once all the pages are filled, you can use a wet paper towel to clean all the pages and the entire book can be reused. This is great for road trips, but if you bring it on an airplane, my only suggestion would be to try and have your kid put the markers away as they use each one. Easier said than done, I know, but as I’ve spent hours picking up markers from the floors of airplanes, I can assure you, it’s no fun.

Melissa and Doug Sticker Wow! Activity Pads Sticker Stamper

Ok, I’m not gonna lie, these things are sweet. They are loaded up with stickers, and like a stamp, you push down the “stamper”, but rather than ink, it leaves behind a sticker. They’re super fun!

PicassoTiles Magnetic Drawing Board

This lends itself more to road trips than to flying simply due to its size, but both of our girls love this. You can essentially draw with little magnets. On one side, you can practice letter shapes, and on the other side your kid can freehand anything they desire.

Flying with Children

It’s quite possibly the most daunting task any parent can undertake - bringing your child on an airplane. Here are some things we’ve leaned on to help the time go by in the least amount of pain possible. You can also check out my flying with children blog post for all my tips and tricks!

Flying with Kids Blog

BevLedge Airplane Window Drink Holder

Ok, I’m very excited about this one. This is a new tool in my arsenal, and I can’t believe it’s taken so long for this to be invented. If you’ve ever traveled with children, you know how precarious ordering a drink on an airplane can be. And no, I’m not talking about anything with booze in it - I’m talking about ginger ale or Coca Cola. Because the second you get that cup on your tray table, there’s a 100% chance that cup is going to end up on your lap when your toddler swings their arm around to show you something on their toy. This little beauty puts two cups and your phone up on the window ledge out of harms way, leaving your toddler to flail to their hearts content and leaving your pants hot coffee free. It’s great for everyone, not just for people traveling with kids! Even in a group with just adults, or for those just traveling alone, having the option to get your drinks up and out of the way, freeing up room on the all too small tray table is a game changer.

BentGo Kid’s Leak Proof Lunch Box

This leak-proof lunch box is a great way to pack a few snacks for a little one on a flight. It has separate sections so that your Goldfish don’t cross contaminate with your strawberries, and it has a freezer pack built in so that things stay nice and cold. It’s slides perfectly into a carry-on bag and fits well on a tray table.

Yum Earth Organic Vitamin C Suckers

We love these little suckers! They’re great all the time, but especially when flying. They give our kids that are past pacifier stage something to suck on during take off and landing and they have the added benefit of having Vitamin C, which is something we can all use while we travel. They are also great to throw in my day bag as we travel around so I have a few on hand when I need to bribe my kids to be quiet.

Toddler Airplane Bed

This essentially extends the seat on the airplane all the way out to the seat in front of you, creating a larger flat surface. It connects to the tray table and lets your toddler either put their feet out straight or, if it’s an overnight flight, lay down. They will still need to keep their seatbelt on at all times, so keep that in mind. We have used this a few times (even recently) and we’ve never had any issues, but I do want to point out that I’ve heard some airlines have told parents that they are not allowed to use these. It could depend on the airline, and it could even depend on the flight attendant, but we’ve never had any issues. On our last overseas flight with our 3 year old, she slept about 5 hours in large part thanks to this.

LISEN Airplane Phone Holder (For Phones with MagSafe)

Yes, I’m aware I’ve already included this on the list once, but it’s worth listing again. This thing is the best phone holder I’ve ever owned, so whether you’re watching something on your phone while flying, or you’re using it for your kids, I can’t recommend this one highly enough.Just make sure your phone has MagSafe capability before you buy this one. Otherwise go with my other recommendation above.

Strollers & Accessories

Bugaboo Butterfly Travel Stroller

We’ve tried a few “travel strollers”, and this is far and away the best one we’ve tried. It’s by far the easiest to fold, the easiest to maneuver, and it’s the sturdiest one we’ve used. The sun shade extends further than others we’ve tried, the wheels are smoother, and it can even fold up small enough to fit in the overhead bin on most airlines (although we always gate-check our strollers in a bag, because we find that to be easier). We had the GB Pockit before, and it we liked it well enough. We traveled with it all over Europe and the US, but once we switched to the Bugaboo, we realized how hard it was to maneuver compared to the Bugaboo. It requires two hands at all times and two hands to fold, whereas the Bugaboo only requires one hand for both. That makes it easier when you have multiple kids and you’re holding the hand of one kid while pushing the stroller with the other. Now, that said, the GB Pockit is quite a bit less expensive and it did indeed treat us well for many years, and it would still be my second pick in the “travel stroller” category!

Doona Car Seat/Stroller

When our kids were infants, this was our go-to stroller/car seat until they were about one year old (and they could use the travel stroller above), regardless of whether we’re talking about traveling or at home. But since this is a travel website, I will say that this is a fantastic option for travel. It’s truly an all-in-one option for traveling with young babies. You can use it as a car seat with a base, you can use it as a car seat without a base. That makes it useful if you are going on a road trip and you can bring your base, or if you’re flying you can use it without a base. We would often gate check our Doona (in a Gate Check Bag), and then upon arrival in our destination, we could get an Uber or taxi and strap in the Doona to use it as a car seat. Then we would hop out, and have it as our stroller. It was amazing!

Gaiatop Stroller Fans (Non-Misting)

We love these little stroller fans. We can strap them on to any stroller and they help keep the kiddos cool. So whether we’re at home walking around the state fair, or in Orlando in July, these things are highly recommended. We have some that mist and some that don’t. Some people prefer the mist and others don’t, so I’m including some of both.

COMLIFE Misting Stroller Fan

These are the other stroller fans we have that we can put water in and they mist as well. Jessica and the girls like the mist, I go back and forth as to which I prefer, so you can decide!

V Volkgo Stroller Bags

We always gate check our strollers. We find it’s easier to than checking them as soon as we get to the airport (that way we can have our stroller all the way to the gate), or bringing it on to the plane (for our travel strollers that are small enough to do so). But we always buy the appropriately sized corresponding stroller bag so that the stroller stays in good condition while it’s under the plane. Some stroller brands sell their own custom made ones that specifically go with a certain stroller, but they’re usually quite expensive. We’ve had great luck with these V Volkgo Stroller bags. We’ve purchased 3 or 4 of them and they’ve always helped keep our strollers in good condition. They have straps which help make it easier to carry the strollers down the gangway, and they prevent scratches and breaks.

UPPAbaby Vista V3

Obviously this is not necessarily a “travel” stroller. This is our big daddy stroller. This is the stroller I have nicknamed, “The Beast”. But, I’m including it here on my travel site for a reason. When our girls were both young and in a stroller, we needed a double stroller. I highly, and I mean highly, recommend getting one like this that has two seats that are “in-line” rather than a “double-wide”. Trust me. As someone who has navigated the thickest of crowds imaginable with a stroller, this is the way to go. As someone who has endlessly loaded and unloaded strollers from busses and boats in Disney Parks and cities like Chicago, this is the way to go. This is an investment, no doubt about it, but you can use it from birth (as a bassinet), and all the way to three kids with two seats and a piggyback rider. As someone who has owned upwards of eight strollers, I could probably write a doctoral thesis as to why this is the greatest stroller ever. But, suffice it to say for the purposes of this travel blog, “in-line” is the way to go for a multi-child stroller.

J.L. Childress Cuddle 'N Cover Stroller Blanket

These stroller blankets are great. They are soft and cozy, which the kids love, but they are also well thought out. They have velcro straps that you can attach to the stroller so they’re not perpetually falling down under the stroller wheels, and they can be folded up in to a small zippered pouch.

Universal Stroller Rain Cover

You’re definitely going to need some sort of rain cover. Many strollers come with a fitted rain cover specifically designed for use with that stroller, but if not, here is a universal one that fits many strollers.

Road Trips

Who doesn’t love a good road trip? These are some of my favorite road trip essentials for kids!

Itomoro Back Seat Camera

I think this little camera is genius! Rather than having a mirror to see your rear facing infant in the back seat, you can use this little camera and monitor. You simply attach the camera to the headrest in the back row, and put the monitor up front on the console or windshield and voila, you have a built-in baby monitor!

LISEN Car Tablet Holder

Who doesn’t love watching a movie on a long road trip? It really helps the hours in the car fly by! I’ve tried many different tablet holders over the years and this is by far the best. It’s extremely stable and it has a much slimmer profile than most. So many others have endless straps you have to buckle from every direction or elastic bands that pull out the hair of whoever happens to be sitting the front seat. These are unobtrusive, fold up small and flush when they’re not in use, and they don’t shake with road movement.

Monocular Telescope

This might seem silly, but these are actually a lot of fun on road trips! As we’re driving we always see fun things out the window, and we have a couple of these monoculars in the car to help see things off in the distance as we’re driving. They’re especially great for seeing any wildlife out in the distance.

Sleeping Essentials

Mayhaps the hardest part of traveling with young kids is getting them to sleep in a place that’s different than home. These are some of our essentials on getting our kids to sleep wherever we are.

SlumberPod

If I may, I’m going to re-write the lyrics to a famous Elton John song: “Someone saved my life tonight, SlumberPod.” This thing has saved our butts more times than I can say. It’s essentially a tent that fits right over a Pack ’N’ Play or crib, and blocks out all the light from the room. When you’re traveling, often times you’re in a hotel room where you’re not going to be able to achieve perfect conditions for nap time. It won’t be perfectly dark, you have to sit in the room during nap time, etc. This allows your little one to have a quiet, dark little corner all to themselves where they can get some quality sleep. Once they’re asleep you can turn the TV on and not have to worry about the light waking them up. Score!

Color Noise Sound Machines

Even if I didn’t travel with my kids, I can’t sleep without white noise. I’ve slept with a fan on since I was in middle school, and now I can’t sleep if it’s totally quiet. So I love this little sound machine. It’s also great at blocking out noise when you’re in a city. We were recently in London and the hotel gave out ear plugs due to the city noise outside, but we didn’t need them because we had this white noise going. It also doubles as a night light.

Audio Baby Monitor

You might have a fancy video monitor at home, but you probably don’t want to travel with it. We have this inexpensive audio-only monitor we travel with which is great when we are staying somewhere with multiple bedrooms and we lay the kids down for bed or nap time.

SlumberPod SlumberTot Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed

This inflatable bed is a perfect little travel bed for toddlers. We’ve used it when we’ve traveled to visit family, when we’ve gone camping, and when we’ve stayed in a hotel that didn’t offer roll-away beds. This one is designed to work with the SlumberPod as well, which is a nice little bonus.

Swimming & Beach

Pool time! Beach time! However you prefer it, water is a big part of many vacations. Here are some of our favorite swimming and beach essentials for kids.

Swimways Infant Spring Float

For kids 3-9 months old, this little float is great. It was wonderful for us. It has a canopy to help protect from the sun and a safety strap across the belly, while still allowing their little toes to dip in the water. I vividly remember my younger daughter floating in the pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in this floaty and giggling and having so much fun!

Sandscreen Sand Removal Bag

I don’t know what sort of witchcraft this is, but it works. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s sand sticking to me after I leave the beach. This thing gets rid of most (if not all) of the sand from your skin which makes life so much more tolerable until you can shower. I know there are different kinds of sand, and it might not work on all of them, but so far it seems to work pretty darn well.

Intex My Baby Float

Once they get to be slightly older than 3-9 months (age 1-2 according to the manufacturer), this was our next step for floaty. Both of our daughters used this floaty and absolutely loved it.

ECCOSOPHY Waterproof Compact Pocket Beach Blanket

This is our go-to beach blanket. It folds up quite small, which makes it easy to throw in our beach bag, and it’s big enough to hold a few people on the beach. It’s also great for picnics. It’s waterproof and you can stake it down so it doesn’t go anywhere. Fun fact, we also use this when we do “movie nights” at home. We put it under the girls’ table so if they spill anything, it doesn’t ruin our carpet.

WhiteFang Deluxe Pop Up Beach Tent

This little pop-up beach tent is perfect to help keep the little ones out of the sun. It provides a little bit of shade but it still allows a breeze to go through.

Xgunion Collapsible Beach Sand Toys

They did it! They finally did it! They made collapsable (aka packable) sand toys! Many times we’ve gone on beach vacations or cruises and wanted to take sand toys with us but we didn’t have the space in our luggage. So we either had to buy them once we got there and then leave them behind, or we had to tell our sweet little angel faced children, tears streaming down their faces, that they couldn’t build sand castles that day. Not anymore! Now we can have our sand and eat it too!

Kid Travel Essentials

Here are some items that are useful no matter your final destination or method of travel!

Ziplocks (All Sizes)

Ziplocks are one of my all-time favorite travel essentials. I bring several of each size, from snack all the way up to 2-gallon, every time I travel. They take up no room in your suitcase or toiletry bag, but they end up being incredibly useful for a million things. I never know what I’m going to need them for, but I’m always glad I have them. Wet bathing suits, damp loofahs, snacks for the kids - you name it. They’re great to have for a myriad of reasons.

KeepGoing First Aid Kit - Kid Version

Scraped knees and elbows are inevitable when you travel with little ones, so you definitely need to bring along some first aid basics. This is the perfect little travel starter first aid kit. It has all the basics - bandages, antibiotic ointments, hydrocortisone cream, safety pins, gauze, burn cream, hand sanitizer and more. Perfect to throw in your bag and know you’ve got the basics covered. I like the design of this one because it opens like a book which makes everything easy to find. KeepGoing sells this kid version and they also sell an adult kit. The biggest difference is the design on the bandages. They also sell a slightly smaller version, which is nice because it doesn’t take up as much room, but it doesn’t open like a book which makes it a little harder to find things.

THERMOS FUNTAINER Water Bottle with Straw

It can be hard to remember to stay hydrated while you’re traveling, but it’s especially important when you’re on the go. Our girls love these Thermos Funtainers. It can be a great way for them to get excited about drinking water. There are dozens (hundreds, maybe) of designs, so you’re certain to find one your kid will love. One quick word of warning - if you’re going to fly with these, be sure to relieve the pressure by twisting off the lid before you click open the top via the button once you’re in the air. If you just press the button and flip the lid, you’re going to get a face full of water. I’m speaking from experience here. So…so many instances of experience.

PURELL Advanced Hand Sanitizer Soothing Gel

People are gross. Therefore, hand sanitizer is always a good idea while traveling!

Wet Ones Plant Based Antibacterial Hand Wipes

See the aforementioned statement on the grossness of people. Therefore, again I say to you, antibacterial hand wipes are always a good idea. Your kid will definitely get sick, there’s no way around that. But you can try and stall that as long as possible. Wipe down their tray table on the airplane. Wipe down their place setting at a restaurant. Wipe down their hands after they crawl all over the subway station floor. It’s a losing battle, but it’s a battle we wage everyday nevertheless.

Apple Air Tags

I’ve been singing the praises of Apple Air Tags for years, and they’re especially great when it comes to travel. I put AirTags in each of our suitcases, I have them attached to each of my cameras, I’ve attached them to my kids - they’re great. If you’re not an Apple person, then Tile also makes very similar products. Regardless of where your brand loyalty lies, I highly recommend getting some. That way, when the airline tries to tell you that they didn’t lose your luggage, you can smugly point to your phone and show them that your bags are currently in Sausalito. It won’t do you much good as you stand in Omaha, bagless, but at least you’ll have your pride.

AirTag Holder for Shoelaces

As I said, I’ve attached Apple AirTags to my kids, and there are a myriad of ways to do it. It’s especially important if you have a kid that’s a runner or if you’re going to a place that’s super crowded. You can attach them to shoe laces, bracelets, lapel pins, put them in backpacks, hide them in shoe inserts - there are quite a few options. Here is an option for some shoe lace ones.

AirTag Holder Bracelet

Travel with Babies

We traveled with our kids even when they were little babies, from road trips to overseas. Here are some of the things that helped save our sanity when we traveled with babies under the age of one.

Kids Headphones by CozyPhones

These soft headphones wrap all the way around the head so that they don’t come off. We can play lullabies on a plane or other calming music while traveling and they stay in place. The speakers are volume limited so they won’t get too loud, which protects little ears.

Suction Cup Toy Holder

I’m pretty sure this thing is designed to suction cup to a table, and then you’re supposed to attach toys to the little arms coming off from it so that the toys don’t fall on the floor. I’m not sure if we ever actually used it like that (we probably did) but my girls loved playing with this thing itself. We would suction it to the table or high chair, and they loved playing with the arms and they would lift the top up and down. So there you go. It’s a toy holder and a toy itself! What more could you ask for?

Portable Travel Kettle

We used this portable travel kettle for several tasks. We would use it to warm bottles when we traveled, we would use the water from this mixed with room temperature water for formula, we could use it to sterilize things. It was a great little tool in our arsenal!

Buckle Toy

Both of our girls loved this little buckle toy. They liked it when they were very young to just hold on to and play with, but as they got a little older, they started loving doing the buckles themselves.

Disposable Stick On Placemats

These things are the BEST! We used them at every restaurant we went to for years. As soon as we sat down, I would pull one of these bad boys out and put it down wherever the baby was sitting. It then gave us a sanitary area to put down some snacks, and it made for easy cleanup at the end of the meal as well. If you can get past the fact that there is nothing more frustrating on this entire planet of earth than the little clear lines of plastic clinging to your arms from static as you try to put it down, then they’re great!

Kopi Baby Portable Changing Pad

It’s super nice to have one singular bag to grab when you’re heading to the changing table. This is great because it has the changing pad, the diapers, wipes and even a place for diaper cream all in one carrying case. You grab your kid, you grab this, and you’re on your way to clean diaper city.

Baby Shusher Portable Sound Machine

Before we bought our Hatch Rest Go (see below), we had this Baby Shusher, which worked well! If I’m picking one of the two, I would still pick the Hatch, but our first born did like this one as well. This one sounds more like a human saying, “Shh, shh, shh” rather than a continuous white noise, so it’s possible your baby might like this one more. Only one way to find out!

Hatch Rest Go

If there is one thing on this list that I would recommend above everything, it would be this. This little thing saved our butts so many times I can’t tell you. We could hang this from the stroller, have it in the car, or even use it a hotel room in a pinch and it made all the difference in the world when trying to get a little one to sleep.

Bonus

Day One Journal

I genuinely don’t think could recommend Day One highly enough. I’ve been singing its praises for years as the best online journaling app, but it’s especially great for travel. If you’ve ever considered journaling for any reason, this is the app to use. But even if you’re just looking for a great way to write down your travel memories, this is the app I recommend. Someday I’ll write a blog post all about why I love this app and I’ll go into more detail - but for now, I’ll just give you the highlights as they relate to travel. First, you can journal from anywhere. The app extends from your phone to your tablet to your laptop, so no matter which device you have on you, you’re able to journal. It can add the location of the entry, and it will show that location on a map, so you over time you can see all the places you’ve traveled in one map. You can easily add photos (and even videos and audio recordings) from your day. You can get “On This Day” reminders in future years, which is a fun way to reminisce about old travel experiences. You can have multiple journals all in Day One - for instance - I have one for “Disney Travel”, one for “Travel”, and my standard, “Journal”. I can view all my entries at once, or I can view them separately. Perhaps my favorite feature is that you can have your journals printed into beautiful books. I print mine out every six months, and I now have a shelf full of beautiful hardback journals I’ve written over the last several years. I was reluctant to start an online journal at first, because I liked the romanticism of a handwritten journal - and for years I kept a handwritten travel journal. But, I can type so much faster than I can write, so my travel journals now have so much more detail. I have corresponding photos that go right along with what I’m writing. The reason I’m including information about it here on my kid’s travel essentials page is because my favorite things to write down are the little things my daughters do throughout the day. Things that I always think I will remember, but then I don’t. Those things I don’t capture on camera. Looking back on those journals, even a few years later, I recall so many details that are already forgotten. I can hand down these journals to my kids, and in decades from now I hope they will enjoy reading about their lives as they were growing up. Anyway, I could go on and on - but suffice it to say for now - Day One is amazing, and I highly recommend you give it a try!
